Role Overview
INTELLIGENCIJA Pty Ltd is seeking a CTO / Technical Co-Founder to help shape and build an AI-first cybersecurity and strategic intelligence platform. The product is intended for SMEs as well as enterprise, government, defence, financial services, healthcare, and critical infrastructure use cases.
The platform scope includes threat intelligence, AI-based threat detection, vulnerability tracking, dark web monitoring, compliance automation, SIEM/SOAR integration, predictive analytics, natural-language intelligence search, and executive cyber-risk reporting.
Working Arrangement
This opportunity is based in Brisbane and can be structured as hybrid or remote. The role is offered in co-founder capacity with equity-based participation. Equity is negotiable and will be tied to vesting, IP assignment, milestone delivery, and a shareholder agreement.
Key Responsibilities
You will own the technical direction of the business and lead product architecture, MVP delivery, cloud setup, AI/ML planning, cybersecurity design, and engineering execution.
The first version of the product should include secure authentication, a client dashboard, threat intelligence feeds, vulnerability visibility, dark web and domain monitoring, AI-supported alert ranking, core compliance mapping, and deployment as a scalable SaaS product.
You will also decide what to build in-house versus buy from third parties, select the technology stack, design the data model and APIs, establish the DevSecOps approach, implement security controls, and create a 12-month delivery roadmap.
In addition, you will support fundraising activities, investor discussions, grant submissions, technical review processes, architecture documentation, product demonstrations, and the future hiring of engineering talent.
The longer-term goal is to establish a secure, scalable, auditable enterprise platform that is prepared for future SOC 2 and ISO 27001 alignment.
Experience and Expertise Needed
The ideal person will bring 10+ years of experience across software engineering, cybersecurity, AI/ML, cloud infrastructure, enterprise SaaS, or security platform development.
Relevant backgrounds include CTO, VP Engineering, Principal Engineer, Security Architect, AI Architect, Technical Lead, or Technical Founder roles.
You should have strong practical knowledge of cybersecurity platforms, threat intelligence, SIEM, SOAR, EDR/XDR, vulnerability management, SOC operations, security analytics, APIs, event streaming, data pipelines, authentication, and multi-tenant SaaS architecture.
Hands-on ability to personally build or prototype the MVP, or to deeply direct its development, is essential.
Solid experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP, along with Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD, monitoring, observability, and secure cloud deployment, is also expected.
You must be able to translate business goals into executable technical plans, delivery schedules, budgets, and milestone-based progress.
Preferred Background
It is advantageous to have experience with platforms such as Palantir, CrowdStrike, Recorded Future, Splunk, Microsoft Sentinel, Elastic, Palo Alto, IBM QRadar, SentinelOne, or comparable solutions.
Knowledge of MITRE ATT&CK, OSINT, dark web monitoring, threat actor tactics, incident response, ISO 27001, SOC 2, Essential Eight, APRA CPS 234, SOCI Act, GDPR, NIS2, FedRAMP, or DISP will be highly valued.
Experience working with government, defence, financial services, healthcare, critical infrastructure, MSSPs, or other enterprise cybersecurity clients is also desirable.
Eligibility for an Australian or allied-country security clearance is considered a strong advantage.
Additional Terms
This is a co-founder-style engagement rather than a standard salaried employment arrangement. Compensation is equity-based, with final terms to be determined through negotiation and formal agreements covering vesting, intellectual property assignment, milestones, and shareholder provisions.
