About the Role
We are seeking an expert in Biology to join our team on a short-term contract basis. This remote position involves creating and solving advanced Biology problems designed to assess large language models. The role requires close collaboration with LLM researchers and involves creating detailed solutions and evaluation benchmarks across academic levels from undergraduate to PhD.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop challenging Biology problems for evaluating large language models.
- Prepare comprehensive, stepwise Biology solutions with detailed explanations.
- Work alongside LLM researchers to design evaluation benchmarks and reasoning tasks.
- Help formulate new benchmarks covering Biology topics at various educational stages.
- Analyze and systematically solve complex biological questions.
- Explain intricate Biology concepts using simple language, supported by visuals and simulations as necessary.
Candidate Requirements
- Applicants holding or pursuing a Master’s, PhD, or Postdoctoral degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or related areas are highly encouraged to apply.
- Proficiency in a minimum of three tools from the following: BWA, Bowtie2, GATK, HMMER, HHsuite, STAR, SPAdes, IQ-TREE, OpenMM, AlphaFold2, PyOpenMS, RELION, PhysiCell, COPASI, Comet, COBRApy, Hifiasm, ABySS, DeepVariant, Flye, OR-Tools, Bracken, Kraken2, MEGAHIT, antiSMASH, BEAST2, FastTree, DIA-NN, Percolator, AutoDock Vina, CP2K, Salmon, MethylDackel, Canu, and GROMACS.
- Strong analytical and research capabilities.
- Ability to think creatively and laterally.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills in a fully remote work setting.
Additional Information
- Compensation is $450 per task, payable after approval.
- The engagement requires an 8-hour workday with at least 4 hours overlapping Pacific Standard Time hours.
- This position is expected to last approximately 11 weeks, with an immediate tentative start.
