Role Overview
The AV Technician role is a full-time onsite position located in Galway. This role involves assembling, operating, and dismantling audio, lighting, and visual equipment for events, making sure all components are properly set up and safe. Daily duties include preparing and transporting equipment, conducting sound and lighting checks, troubleshooting technical difficulties on location, maintaining and testing gear between events, and accurately documenting inventory and repairs. The position requires close teamwork with event planners, performers, and colleagues to meet technical specifications and deliver a seamless AV experience.
Qualifications and Skills
- Competent in operating and setting up audio, lighting, and visual equipment with focus on safety and accuracy.
- Ability to quickly identify and resolve technical issues including cabling and equipment faults under pressure.
- Strong organizational capabilities to manage multiple events, coordinate equipment logistics, and adhere to schedules.
- Clear communication and cooperation skills for effective collaboration with clients, venue staff, and technical team members.
- Physical fitness to handle heavy equipment and stand for prolonged intervals during events.
- Flexibility to work varied hours including nights and weekends based on event demands.
- Previous experience in AV or event technical roles is advantageous; certifications or formal training are a plus.
- Possession of a full driving license and dependable transportation is preferred for site travel within and near Galway.
