Job Overview and Responsibilities
The Assistant Manager - Techno Commercial will strategize and execute procurement and sourcing activities to align with organizational goals. This role involves supporting site-specific procurement strategies, ensuring compliance with procurement policies, and overseeing the entire purchase requisition process. Key duties include reviewing purchase requests for completeness and accuracy, determining procurement methods considering stock levels, urgency, contractual agreements, and business needs.
Responsibilities extend to managing sourcing for capital and operational expenditures, drafting RFI/RFP documents, selecting and evaluating vendors based on technical and commercial criteria, conducting bid evaluations, vendor meetings, negotiations, and e-auctions for cost savings. The role includes preparing approvals and maintaining contract management through standardized templates and ERP systems.
Post-order responsibilities involve monitoring timely deliveries, coordinating with vendors and stakeholders to resolve supply issues, managing contract amendments, closures, and overseeing logistics. Supplier management comprises onboarding, evaluation alongside quality and project teams, maintaining approved vendor records, and facilitating vendor code creation in relevant systems.
The position also demands supplier performance assessments, developing scorecards, reviewing vendor performance, and steering improvement initiatives. Additionally, it requires analyzing procurement data for spend and commodity insights, reporting for management review, and identifying risks with plans for mitigation and maintaining risk registers.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering, or related fields
- Additional certifications in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, or SAP are advantageous
- 3 to 7 years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, supply chain, or buyer roles
- Industry experience preferred in power plants, energy sectors, manufacturing, steel, cement, or heavy engineering
