Job description
Role Overview
We seek an Assistant Manager specializing in Technical Competency and Skills Development, with an engineering educational background, to lead employee growth, performance evaluation, and talent nurturing within our Engineering and Manufacturing divisions.
Employee Development and Assessment
- Perform weekly evaluations of trainees, new hires, and employees under probation.
- Track technical skills, learning advancement, quality of work, productivity, attitude, and overall progression.
- Detect skill deficiencies and propose appropriate training and development interventions.
- Generate organized assessment reports and share routine updates with management.
- Keep comprehensive records of employee growth and performance monitoring.
Employee Support and Mentorship
- Function as a mentor and advisor to newcomers during their probation period.
- Deliver ongoing constructive feedback and guidance to enhance employee performance.
- Help employees grasp organizational standards, workflows, and performance expectations.
- Assist employees in overcoming technical and behavioral obstacles.
Technical Evaluation and Competency Assessment
- Evaluate technical knowledge, learning aptitude, problem-solving skills, and practical application of engineering principles.
- Collaborate with department leaders and supervisors to collect performance feedback.
- Judge employees' preparedness for independent responsibilities.
Performance Review and Confirmation
- Monitor employee progress during the initial 1–3 months of their tenure.
- Suggest confirmation, probation extension, additional training, or termination based on performance.
- Provide impartial assessment documentation to management to aid retention decisions.
Training Coordination and Development Planning
- Identify training requirements derived from performance reviews.
- Manage both internal and external training sessions.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of training and the resultant employee improvement.
Administrative Duties
- Support onboarding and orientation activities.
- Maintain thorough employee assessment and progress documentation.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree (BE/B.Tech) in Electrical, Electronics & Communication, or Mechatronics Engineering; B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Electronics or Physics may be considered based on technical suitability.
- 3 to 6 years of relevant experience in production, service, quality assurance, technical training, or engineering operations.
- Proficient in evaluating technical competencies, detecting skill gaps, and tracking employee performance.
- Experience in assessing technical skills, work quality, attitude, discipline, learning ability, and responsibility adherence.
- Knowledge of competency assessment processes, structured feedback delivery, and facilitating continuous skill development.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with Production, Service, and Quality teams to supervise execution, assess performance, and foster improvements.
- Experience preparing training material, competency matrices, evaluation reports, and development plans is advantageous.
