Job description

Role Overview

The Assessment and Planning Officer position at Junee Correctional Centre is a full-time, ongoing role within Corrective Services NSW. This role is dedicated to assisting individuals in custody by identifying their strengths and crafting personalized pathways towards education, vocational training, and employment. Through these efforts, the officer contributes significantly to rehabilitation, reintegration, and lowering chances of re-offending.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct Core Skills Assessments and design customized education and employment plans tailored to each individual’s needs.
  • Facilitate connections between offenders and suitable education, training, and employment opportunities aligned with their future aspirations.
  • Oversee and track individual progress, provide comprehensive reports, and participate in case management to support rehabilitation outcomes.
  • Establish and maintain effective partnerships with both internal teams and external government and non-government organizations.
  • Assist in implementing education and vocational programs within the custodial setting.
  • Manage multiple priorities while ensuring precise documentation and high-quality results.
  • Engage confidently and with respect while working with a diverse population in a demanding yet rewarding environment.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is desirable but not mandatory.
  • A valid NSW Driver Licence and willingness to drive as part of job duties.
  • Proven office administration experience.
  • Competence in people management, negotiation, and conflict resolution.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office software including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly the ability to motivate and interact with inmates.
  • Experience working in environments requiring strict compliance and meticulous record-keeping.

Additional Information

This position is located at Junee Correctional Centre in New South Wales, Australia. The annual salary ranges from $102,936 to $113,579 plus leave loading and superannuation.
