Job description
Role Overview
The Applications Development Senior Manager at this global financial institution plays a key leadership role managing a team to deliver new and enhanced application systems. The incumbent is responsible for overseeing applications analysis and programming activities while collaborating closely with the Technology department to meet strategic business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead one or more application development teams to achieve set targets, including managing team personnel matters such as performance assessment, recruitment, and disciplinary procedures.
- Apply deep expertise across various application development domains to provide technical leadership and oversight of systems and applications.
- Examine and critique proposed technical solutions related to project initiatives.
- Contribute to defining strategies that shape application development and other functional areas.
- Develop an in-depth understanding of the integration of business units to fulfill organizational aims.
- Make informed evaluative decisions using complex data in unique scenarios.
- Drive results delivery while participating in budget control and managing daily staffing tasks, including resource allocation within projects and teams.
- Ensure adherence to essential procedures and help establish standards, negotiating with external parties when necessary.
- Assess business risks prudently to protect the firm’s reputation, ensuring compliance with relevant laws, policies, and ethical principles, while holding others accountable for these standards.
Required Qualifications and Expertise
- 6 to 10 years of pertinent experience in the Financial Services sector.
- Previous managerial roles within applications development, including senior-level responsibilities.
- Proven skills in managing stakeholders and leading teams effectively.
- Strong project management capabilities.
- Basic understanding of industry best practices and standards.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Experience working within Rates derivatives IT environments.
- Familiarity with quantitative libraries for risk and profit & loss computation.
- Competence in utilizing AI tools for software development and data analysis.
Education
- Bachelor’s or equivalent degree required.
- Master’s degree is preferred.
