Application Engineer - DX & VRV

Role Overview

The Application Engineer specializing in DX and VRV is pivotal in crafting technically robust, optimized, and commercially viable HVAC solutions within Daikin's sales framework. This position entails selecting equipment, verifying system designs, ensuring adherence to technical standards, and offering engineering support through every project phase. Collaborating closely with Sales, Product Management, and Engineering teams, this role ensures DX and VRV solutions align with client needs, local codes, and Daikin's engineering criteria, supporting effective project delivery and business expansion in Qatar.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver application engineering assistance to Sales teams from project inquiries until order finalization.
• Design and size DX, VRV, and AHU equipment through Daikin's proprietary selection tools.
• Examine project specs, tender papers, HVAC schematics, and timelines to develop compliant and efficient solutions.
• Validate equipment choices focusing on technical soundness, energy efficiency, compliance, and Daikin standards.
• Generate technical submittals, equipment schedules, selection reports, and documentation supporting project offers.
• Recommend value engineering options to enhance technical quality and commercial appeal.
• Coordinate with internal units such as Product Management and Factory Engineering to resolve technical challenges swiftly.
• Assist in preparing quotations by delivering precise technical selections, calculations, and cost inputs.
• Engage in technical discussions with consultants, clients, contractors, and stakeholders to clarify design and application queries.
• Maintain updated knowledge of HVAC technologies, local regulations, industry norms, and Daikin product updates to provide superior application support.
• Facilitate smooth transition of technical details to execution teams post order confirmation.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC Engineering, or an allied engineering field.
• At least 5 years of experience in HVAC application engineering, technical support, or system design, with significant expertise in DX and VRV solutions, ideally within Qatar or the GCC market.
• Comprehensive understanding of HVAC system design, equipment selection, psychometrics, load calculations, and energy-efficient applications.
• Proficient with HVAC design and selection software such as VRV selection tools, AutoCAD, AHU selection software, alongside standard office software.
• In-depth knowledge of MEP drawings, HVAC standards, tender specs, and consultant requirements.
• Proven skills in technical support across diverse sales channels covering equipment choices, optimization, value engineering, and proposal creation.
• Capability to analyze project needs, assess technical risks, and suggest practical engineering responses.
• Strong verbal and written communication with aptitude for effective consultation with diverse stakeholders.
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving capabilities, managing multiple deadlines successfully.
• Fluent English mandatory; Arabic proficiency favorable.
• Familiarity with international standards such as ASHRAE and AHRI, and awareness of Qatar Construction Specifications and local regulations is advantageous.
