Role Overview

As a full-time Accountant based on-site in Kingston, the key responsibility is to manage the organization's finances accurately and promptly. Primary duties include preparing and posting journal entries, maintaining general ledger accounts, reconciling bank statements, and assisting with closing processes at month and year ends. The role entails generating financial statements, management reports, and budget analysis, as well as overseeing expenditures to ensure policy and regulatory compliance. The Accountant will also support audit activities, maintain comprehensive financial documentation, collaborate with teams on fiscal matters, and help enhance accounting processes and controls.

Qualifications and Skills Required

• Proficient in accounting and finance principles, including general ledger maintenance, financial reporting, and budgeting practices.
• Experienced in using accounting software and Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel for data manipulation and presentation.
• Familiar with accounting standards, tax laws, and compliance obligations relevant to public sector or broadcasting entities.
• Detail-focused with strong analytical capabilities and the capacity to interpret financial information for strategic decision-making.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities to work effectively within various internal teams and with external partners.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain precise financial records in a dynamic environment.
• Holding a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related disciplines; professional accounting certifications such as ACCA or CPA, or progress towards them, are advantageous.
• Previous experience in the public broadcasting, governmental, or non-profit sectors is a plus.
