Data Science Intern

About the internship

Blurgs is seeking a data science intern to support maritime intelligence work centered on AIS and geospatial data. The role focuses on turning vessel movement records into clean, structured, and usable datasets, then using them to build analysis and prediction workflows that strengthen track continuity and movement insights.

What you will do

• Clean, preprocess, organize, and analyze maritime AIS datasets containing vessel movement information.
• Design and evaluate trajectory interpolation techniques to estimate missing AIS points and improve route continuity.
• Develop and test prediction methods for vessel paths using time-series, sequence-based, and geospatial approaches.
• Work with geospatial data in Python using tools such as GeoPandas, Shapely, and similar libraries.
• Study vessel movement behavior, including routes, speed, heading, and unusual location patterns.
• Prepare scripts, notebooks, and visual outputs to support model building, evaluation, and internal discussion.
• Collaborate with the team to improve data pipelines, model quality, and practical deployment of maritime tracking intelligence.

Who can apply

This opportunity is open to candidates who can commit to a full-time, in-office internship, can start between 29 June 2026 and 3 August 2026, and are available for a 6-month duration. Applicants should have relevant skills and a genuine interest in the domain.

Other requirements

• Applicants should already be based in Delhi-NCR or be willing to relocate and work full-time from the Delhi office.
• Candidates who can join within 1–2 weeks, especially final-year students or recent graduates, will be preferred.
• Prior exposure to geospatial datasets, GPS or AIS data, movement tracking, or map-based analytics will be an added advantage.
• Comfort with large datasets and the ability to write clean, reusable Python code is important.
• Knowledge of machine learning, time-series forecasting, or sequence models will be preferred.

Stipend

The internship offers a stipend of INR 50,000 per month.
