Role Overview

Benchmark is seeking a senior operational leader to join as Vice President of Operations. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role functions as the operational counterpart to manage day-to-day operations, develop scalable systems, oversee financial discipline, and drive organizational growth. The VP will work closely with Clinical Operations, Data, Product, Engineering teams, and outsourced finance partners to ensure seamless business execution while freeing the CEO to concentrate on clinical strategy, fundraising, and expansion.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all daily operational activities across the company, establishing and maintaining an operating rhythm that keeps the expanding team coordinated.
• Bridge functional gaps between Clinical Operations, Data, and Product teams, ensuring ownership and accountability for all critical areas.
• Handle vendor relationships, legal compliance, and escalate only essential issues to company founders.
• Maintain comprehensive ownership of the financial model, track key business metrics, and manage company runway with fiscal responsibility.
• Collaborate with outsourced finance partners to align operations and financial planning, keeping expenditures within budget.
• Create hiring plans and capacity models integrated into financial forecasting.
• Act as a strategic thinker alongside the CEO and President, developing operational and financial frameworks to support growth initiatives across primary care, health system, and payer partnerships.
• Own the collection and analysis of metrics that demonstrate service quality and sustainable unit economics, foundational for value-based contracts.
• Design organizational structures to support scaling, manage recruitment, role leveling, and implement people systems for a growing workforce.
• Define key performance indicators and operational rhythms that enable effective decision-making across all levels, even in leadership absence.

• Proficient with financial analysis and fundraising processes, capable of interpreting business data, supporting investor discussions, and contributing to successful capital raises.
• A proven builder of teams and organizational systems, adept at anticipating growth needs and instituting scalable processes and metrics.
• A trusted partner within the company who can independently manage business decisions and be relied upon by founders for operational leadership.
• Passionate about making a meaningful impact, aligning personal motivation with the company’s mission to innovate mental health care access and delivery.

Preferred Qualifications

• Over 10 years of operational leadership experience, including senior roles within early-stage startups.
• Strong comfort with financial modeling, planning, and fundraising participation.
• Demonstrated success in scaling organizations through growth phases from seed funding to Series A or B.
• Capability to operate autonomously with accountability for results without micromanagement.
• Background in healthcare or behavioral health industry, with understanding of value-based care models, considered advantageous.

Additional Information

• This position is full-time and office presence in Boston (Needham), MA, is strongly preferred.
• Compensation is competitive and aligned with experience.
