The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust appreciates the vital contributions of its dedicated team of volunteers. We are currently looking to enhance our volunteer services by recruiting a Volunteer Facilitator who will work under the guidance of the Volunteer Service Manager. This role involves coordinating the volunteer lifecycle from recruitment through to ongoing support during placements.
The position is primarily located at William Farr House, Shrewsbury but requires flexibility to work across both main sites, including The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford and The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.
This role demands strong teamwork abilities and excellent communication skills to engage effectively with diverse individuals. Given the dynamic nature of the position, the ability to prioritize tasks, plan strategically, and propose new initiatives is crucial.
We seek a candidate with passion, vigor, and enthusiasm to positively impact patient care by enhancing our volunteer programs.
Main Duties
- Collaborate with the Volunteer Service Manager to ensure the safe and inclusive recruitment, screening, placement, and retention of volunteers, adhering to Trust policies for reimbursing out-of-pocket expenses.
- Design, implement, and maintain continuous training and support programs tailored for volunteers, ensuring mandatory training is completed and keeping meticulous training records.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for prospective and current volunteers, fostering and expanding professional relationships and networks within the Trust.
- Manage volunteer placements by working closely with volunteers and hospital wards/departments to match individuals to appropriate roles.
- Coordinate specialized volunteer initiatives such as volunteer drivers, Volunteer to Career, and Youth programs within the Trust.
- Regularly assess placements by consulting with supervisors and volunteers to promptly address any necessary adjustments.
- Proactively resolve volunteer-related queries or concerns, motivate volunteers, and if needed, guide them towards alternative volunteer opportunities to ensure a positive transition.
Organizational Commitment
We hold compassion at the core of our healthcare services, expecting staff to demonstrate empathy, respect, and clear communication in all interactions. Through this role, you will contribute to embedding these values into everyday patient care, ensuring every individual feels acknowledged and valued.
