About Koforidua Technical University
Established through Act 922 (2016) and amended by Act 974 (2018), Koforidua Technical University aims to deliver exemplary science and technology education, serve as a hub for applied research excellence, and offer innovative solutions to local community challenges. The university's mission centers on providing tertiary technical education focused on career development, in partnership with industry. Position Summary
With a student body of approximately 8,000 and staff totaling 605, the university invites applications for the role of Vice Chancellor, effective from August 1, 2019. The Vice Chancellor acts as both the academic and administrative leader and serves as the chief disciplinary authority. As Chief Executive Officer, the incumbent oversees all academic, financial, and administrative functions, ensuring operational efficiency and compliance as per university statutes.
Appointment Term and Conditions
The role is a full-time appointment for an initial four-year term, renewable once for an additional term or part thereof upon satisfactory performance. The remuneration package and associated terms of service are highly competitive.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Must hold a Professorial rank and possess a postgraduate research degree, preferably a terminal degree.
- Recognized internationally as an academic leader or distinguished scholar.
- Demonstrated ability to inspire, manage, and lead staff effectively.
- Extensive experience in administration with strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Exhibits integrity, discretion, and impeccable conduct.
- Possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including crisis management capabilities.
- Visionary and business-minded, capable of fostering partnerships between the university and industry.
- Mature and judicious with the ability to make sound decisions.
- Proven track record in fundraising and resource mobilization for research and development.
- Insightful understanding of the challenges facing technical and tertiary education in Ghana.
- Must be able to serve a full four-year term prior to reaching the mandatory retirement age of 60 years.
