Role Overview
The Ventilation Officer will play a crucial role at the Narrabri Coal Mining Operations by managing ventilation systems, gas monitoring, and gas management adhering to the Coal Mining Health and Safety Act and relevant regulations. This position supports mine production activities and offers opportunities to enhance technical knowledge through participation in OEM discussions, technical seminars, and site visits to other mines.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with all applicable legislation and the Mine Safety Management System.
- Provide expert technical advice on ventilation and gas management to management teams, superintendents, supervisors, and mining personnel.
- Identify and pursue enhancements to the Mine Safety Management System by tracking industry developments both within Australia and internationally.
- Design and perform audits to verify adherence to safety standards and ensure reported non-compliances are addressed promptly.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree or Associate Diploma in Mining Engineering.
- Graduate Diploma in Mine Ventilation or equivalent qualification.
- Third Class Certificate of Competency.
- Prior experience in underground coal mining operations.
