About the Role
Join Old Mutual South Africa as a Universal Banker committed to fostering business growth within the MSME sector. Collaborating closely with the Business Growth & Development Manager, you will execute strategic sales initiatives while maintaining high-quality MSME loan portfolios. Your responsibilities include acquiring new clients, supporting Faulu Business Account openings, managing daily utilization to enhance future lending, and cultivating a balanced portfolio of deposits and MSME loans, all aimed at delivering exceptional customer experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Achieve and maintain a quality loan portfolio with less than 3% delinquency over 30 days and zero under 30 days.
- Conduct timely loan recoveries with follow-ups to minimize defaults and optimize portfolio health.
- Drive client acquisition and boost MSME loan uptake through effective relationship management.
- Augment revenue streams by cross-selling additional banking products such as cheque books and mobile banking enrollment.
- Mobilize deposits actively to meet established targets.
- Market proactively by recruiting clients, mobilizing deposits, and managing disbursements.
- Perform regular customer visits and follow-ups to ensure satisfaction and sustain strong relationships.
- Maintain accurate records of all customer interactions.
- Promote and cross-sell Faulu's full range of products and services to both new and current clients.
- Initiate business growth efforts, including marketing activities, new sign-ups, and partnership development.
- Prepare detailed credit appraisals and analyses for presentation to the Branch Credit Committee.
- Comply with prevailing procedures, processes, memos, and circulars as issued.
- Support Remote Sales Consultants to enhance their efficiency and productivity.
- Respond promptly to customer inquiries within defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Monitor portfolio quality daily and implement corrective measures as needed.
- Promote adoption of Digital Banking platforms including Digi Cash, Internet Banking, and USSD services.
- Engage with branch leadership and local community leaders to reinforce loan collection efforts.
- Continuously review transactions to identify and report suspicious activities to the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO).
- Implement and enforce AML, KYC, and CFT policies in all operational areas under your responsibility.
Skills, Knowledge & Competencies
- Strong business management capabilities with an emphasis on credit and lending operations.
- Proven supervisory and team leadership skills.
- Minimum of 4 years experience as a Universal Banker handling MSME loans.
- At least 3 years hands-on experience in lending operations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Team-oriented with leadership qualities.
Educational Requirements & Professional Qualifications
- Degree in Business or related field from an accredited university.
- Accounting qualification at CPA Section 4 level.
- Master’s degree is an advantage but not mandatory.
Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Responsibilities
The role entails strict adherence to and implementation of Compliance, AML, and Sanctions policies. This involves executing customer due diligence, maintaining data integrity, identifying and escalating suspicious activities to the Risk and Compliance Office, and ensuring Know-Your-Customer (KYC) compliance throughout all processes.
