Role Overview

This position involves the comprehensive daily cleaning of council waste fleet vehicles and wash bay areas, ensuring adherence to industry and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) standards. The role is critical to maintaining the cleanliness and operational presentation of the depot.

Key Responsibilities

• Designing and executing scheduled cleaning routines to support efficient workshop functions.
• Operating waste collection vehicles and heavy machinery safely and following established protocols.
• Cleaning waste trucks and heavy equipment in compliance with EPA and industry standards, ensuring environmental regulations are met.
• Keeping precise workshop logs and documenting completed cleaning and maintenance tasks.
• Detecting and reporting vehicle defects, faults, and potential safety hazards to uphold fleet reliability and workplace safety.
• Driving Heavy Rigid (HR) vehicles professionally within the depot and public roads, including travel to inspection and repair locations, while following road rules, fatigue management policies, and defensive driving techniques.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Possession of a valid Class HR Driver's License.
• Demonstrated strong attention to detail with the ability to work independently.
• Experience in cleaning vehicles and heavy plant equipment using specialized tools and power equipment.
• Proven capability in operating heavy waste vehicles such as rear loaders and side loaders.
• Knowledge of waste and street cleansing operations and operation of related equipment.
• Ability to identify and report heavy vehicle structural defects, including rust, corrosion, and seal leaks.

Salary and Benefits

The starting salary ranges from $61,112 to $71,022 (Grade A, Step 1) plus a 12% superannuation contribution. Salaries may be adjusted based on skills and experience.
