Job Overview
International Schools Partnership Limited seeks a dedicated Teacher Assistant to join the Academic department on a permanent full-time basis in Doha, Qatar. Reporting directly to the Head of Year, this role plays a vital part in supporting pupils across various subjects with a focus on individual learning needs and integrating key classroom activities.
Main Duties
- Collaborate effectively in lesson planning and support assessment processes, including managing students' educational materials and records.
- Assist pupils throughout the curriculum, emphasizing core areas such as mathematics, reading, and writing.
- Provide tailored aid to children with special educational needs and non-native English speakers.
- Help design and adapt educational activities and resources to boost learning engagement.
- Encourage and motivate students to enhance their academic potential and personal growth.
- Support teachers with marking and correcting academic work, as well as attending staff meetings and student reviews.
- Contribute to school events, educational trips, and extracurricular activities.
- Prepare classroom materials, lead group or individual sessions, and engage children by reading stories.
- Set up and manage technology equipment such as computers, tablets, and digital devices used in lessons.
- Accompany children on field visits and offer emotional support to vulnerable or distressed students, adhering to safeguarding protocols.
- Organize art and craft supplies and maintain displays of students' work.
- Supervise children during transition periods, playtimes, and cloakroom use, ensuring safety and good conduct.
- Perform administrative duties including labeling, storing, laminating, and photocopying learning materials.
- Participate in daily playground supervision rotas and monitor behavior during critical times such as arrivals and departures.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding personal information about students and report incidents according to safeguarding guidelines.
- Uphold the professional reputation and standards of the school environment.
Bus Supervisor Responsibilities (If Applicable)
- Transport students safely to and from school, following prescribed loading and unloading procedures.
- Enforce discipline and safety regulations during travel, including seatbelt checks and behavior management.
- Conduct thorough pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections and ensure proper documentation.
- Administer first aid and implement emergency plans in case of accidents, reporting incidents as required.
- Manage student attendance during transit and ensure all children disembark safely.
- Communicate any delays or issues to parents and prepare various reports regarding attendance and schedules.
Health and Safety Responsibilities
- Promote awareness about safety within curricular activities and encourage responsible behavior regarding personal and community safety.
- Execute playground and transition period supervision diligently to protect students.
- Follow health and safety policies to safeguard students, facilities, and equipment.
- Support the enforcement of school rules related to student conduct and safety measures.
- Stay informed on current health and safety practices within the school environment.
Qualifications and Experience
- A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university is required.
- Minimum of five years' experience as a teacher assistant in a school setting.
- Training in Child Care and Protection will be provided during induction.
