Support Worker - Fostering Service

Overview

Lancashire County Council is seeking two dedicated Support Workers to join its Resilience, Development and Sufficiency Team within the Fostering Service. These permanent full-time roles, based at County Hall in Lancashire, are essential to the council's commitment to providing nurturing, safe family environments for vulnerable children.

Role Opportunities

There are two distinct positions available:

• Family Finding Support Worker: This role focuses on matching children with suitable fostering families using a child-centered, strength-based approach. Working closely with social workers and foster carers, you will contribute directly to securing safe and stable homes for children transitioning from residential care or requiring new placements.
• Support and Stability Support Worker: This role involves on-the-ground support for fostering families within communities and homes. You will provide practical and emotional assistance to carers and children, facilitate understanding of therapeutic and trauma-informed methods, and work alongside professionals to maintain foster family stability and prevent disruption.

Key Responsibilities

• Engage in skilled matching activities to identify the best fostering homes for children.
• Support fostering families through challenges to promote stability and positive outcomes.
• Work collaboratively with social workers, carers, and other professionals to enhance family support frameworks.
• Provide direct, relationship-based support in family homes and community settings.
