Role Overview

Maritz is building a cloud-native, AI-empowered technology organization. As a Software Engineer I, you will contribute to developing software solutions for Maritz’s technology needs, collaborating closely with senior engineers. The role involves building and maintaining application features and services with increasing exposure to AI-based engineering tools.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute routine to moderately complex software development tasks across various environments with guidance from senior engineers.
  • Leverage AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot and Claude to accelerate coding and enhance code quality.
  • Participate in peer code reviews, including reviewing AI-generated code to ensure quality, security, and adherence to development standards.
  • Engage actively in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
  • Seek mentorship from senior engineers on the prudent adoption of AI-driven development tools.
  • Support initiatives leveraging AI and automation to increase deployment frequency and improve system reliability.
  • Assist with resolving service outages and contribute to post-incident root cause analyses under supervision.
  • Identify patterns in service disruptions and recommend solutions through collaboration with experienced team members.
  • Contribute to maintaining a culture focused on continuous learning, operational excellence, and improvement.
  • Support cross-functional collaboration during major incident management to ensure clear communication and timely updates.

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technology discipline or equivalent experience demonstrating required competencies. Candidates with 1-2 years of experience including internships, academic, or personal projects are welcome. Certifications in cloud or AI technologies are beneficial.
  • Foundational understanding of web application frameworks, object-oriented and functional programming concepts, design patterns, and secure coding best practices.
  • Exposure to development of web applications or RESTful web services.
  • Basic knowledge of relational and/or NoSQL databases, including concepts like ACID transactions and data persistence.
  • Emerging skills in troubleshooting and root cause analysis with senior guidance.
  • Familiarity with at least one major cloud platform such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
  • Developing understanding of security principles relevant to both infrastructure and software development.
  • Experience utilizing AI-powered coding tools to generate, review, and refine software code.
  • Ability to critically assess AI-generated code and configurations for correctness, security, and performance in collaboration with senior engineers.
  • Awareness of ethical and responsible AI usage principles within an enterprise engineering context.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
