About the role
RobCo is rapidly advancing the field of autonomous industrial robotics by combining hardware, software, and AI into a unified system designed to automate repetitive work and free people for higher-value tasks. As the company expands across Europe and North America, this role helps ensure the technical side of the business runs with the same precision as the robots themselves.
In this position, you will be based in Austin, Texas and work remotely on backend and robotics software development while also acting as the main technical contact for field issues in the United States. The job blends algorithm development, hands-on troubleshooting, and support for real-world customer deployments, with a focus on keeping modular automation systems reliable on factory floors.
Key responsibilities
- Build and refine backend application logic, automation nodes, and orchestration flows in Python.
- Work closely with engineering teams in Germany on product development, feature delivery, and architecture choices.
- Serve as the Level 3 support contact for complex software or robotics problems reported in the US.
- Assist deployment teams in the US by configuring, diagnosing, and resolving issues during customer installations.
- Connect software behavior with hardware realities by aligning execution logic with kinematics, sensor inputs, and control loops.
- Create and validate technical workflows, software configurations, and sensor integrations directly on robot arms to confirm field fixes and new features.
- Write maintainable, well-tested code and take part in code reviews and CI/CD processes.
Requirements
- Vocational training or a degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Several years of professional experience in software engineering, robotics development, or industrial automation.
- Strong Python programming ability; experience with C++, ROS/ROS2, or backend frameworks such as FastAPI is a strong advantage.
- Demonstrated ability to solve algorithmic problems and troubleshoot hardware or sensor-related issues in practice.
- Experience deploying software to robotic hardware, edge devices, or industrial factory environments.
- A strong ownership mindset, a self-directed and resourceful style, and a practical approach to work.
- Very good English communication skills; German is considered a plus.
Perks and benefits
- Opportunity to work on modular, software-driven robotics products that are shaping automation.
- Chance to help develop AI-enabled robots that perceive their surroundings, analyze information, and act in real time.
- High ownership from day one in a fast-growing scale-up, with the ability to lead your own work and see immediate impact.
- Flat organizational structure, open communication, and regular 360-degree feedback to support fast decision-making and development.
- Competitive compensation and benefits, including medical, dental, and vision coverage plus a 401(k) plan.
- Unlimited paid time off, including major holidays.
- Company-paid onboarding and team offsites in Germany.
