Senior Project Manager Operational Excellence

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to join our Executive-level team "Operational Excellence and Projects" in Mainz, Germany. This pivotal role involves leading the definition, execution, and management of complex projects while providing strategic consultancy to executive management in achieving goals related to efficiency, innovation, and budget adherence. Expertise in Lean Management and the ability to coordinate cross-functional teams are essential to drive best practices and sustainable transformations.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee planning, control, and implementation of complex, company-wide initiatives focusing on operational excellence, applying Lean methodologies, 5S, and value stream strategies rigorously.
• Define, manage, and implement projects and subprojects to meet set objectives.
• Advise executive leadership on project goals and plans, analyzing content and methodology to realize efficiency and budget targets.
• Lead project teams and manage various functional areas across all hierarchical levels, including communication, resource allocation, cost management, conflict resolution, and risk control.
• Promote best practices, standardization, and operational excellence throughout the entire organization.

Candidate Profile

• Master's degree holder with at least 10 years of professional experience in consulting or an international industrial corporation focusing on operational excellence in a similar role; minimum five years in project management.
• Proven track record managing complex, cross-functional programs and projects emphasizing innovation, efficiency, and organizational design.
• Deep knowledge of operations and Lean Management, particularly in process optimization, redesign, or automation.
• Willingness to participate in international assignments, including associated travel.
• Excellent presentation and facilitation skills combined with strong communication and teamwork capabilities across all hierarchy levels, paired with high autonomy.
• Interest in taking on advanced leadership roles in the medium term.
