Key Responsibilities

• Develop design concepts by analyzing requirements, constraints, and engineering specifics to create detailed 3D models, 2D drawings, and bills of materials (BOMs).
• Decompose product requirements into clear system design and engineering specifications.
• Identify and resolve integration challenges across functions by proposing innovative solutions.
• Oversee material selection and manufacturing process trials, collaborating with suppliers to obtain samples and pilot batches.
• Conduct engineering calculations and simulations to optimize designs focusing on performance, weight, and cost efficiency.
• Work closely with industrial designers to balance product usability and aesthetic considerations.
• Validate product performance, reliability, and safety standards.
• Offer technical assistance during production phases, including creation of operation procedures, safety guidelines, and maintenance plans.
• Compile comprehensive product reports and necessary documentation.
• Assist in sourcing and managing engineering partnerships with suppliers.

Required Skills

• In-depth understanding of machine design principles, mechanical mechanisms, manufacturing processes, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
• Experience with engineering materials, especially plastics and metals, alongside their relevant manufacturing methods.
• Proficiency with mechanical design CAD tools such as SolidWorks, NX, or ProE tailored to injection molding, sheet metal, and machining designs.
• Strong skills in mechanical product engineering emphasizing Voice of Customer (VoC) driven specifications, DFMEA, PFMEA, risk assessment, and design for manufacturing, assembly, service, reliability, and usability (DFX).
• Capability to define standard operating procedures (SOPs) for design workflows, select standard parts, and prepare BOMs.
• Working knowledge of systems engineering within multidisciplinary teams involving hardware, firmware, GUI, and mechanical interfaces for integrated product development.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (B.E. or B.Tech.) or related field.
• 3 to 7 years of professional experience in medical devices, automotive, robotics, or similar industries.
• Experience participating in SAE, BAJA, or Robocon competitions is advantageous.
• Proven track record of designing and fabricating complete mechanical subsystems for electromechanical products.
