Role Overview
The Senior Buyer position, based in London and full-time onsite, is central to ABASK's product curation and assortment strategy. The role involves selecting distinctive, high-quality items that align with ABASK’s commitment to exceptional craftsmanship. Key duties include sourcing from global artisans and suppliers, managing vendor relationships, negotiating favorable terms, and ensuring pricing supports healthy margins.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead product selection and assortment planning to match ABASK’s standards of craftsmanship and design.
- Source, evaluate, and negotiate with artisans, designers, and suppliers internationally.
- Manage vendor partnerships and maintain competitive pricing to ensure profitability.
- Analyze sales data and market trends to forecast demand and optimize inventory levels.
- Recommend new categories and makers to enhance the product portfolio.
- Collaborate with merchandising, marketing, and operations teams to support product launches and seasonal campaigns.
- Monitor ongoing product performance and oversee restocking and replenishment strategies.
- Ensure accurate and engaging online product representation through storytelling and attention to detail.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Extensive buying and merchandising experience, including assortment planning, vendor selection, and managing profit margins.
- Strong commercial insight with proficiency in sales data analysis and demand forecasting.
- Demonstrated success building relationships with artisans and suppliers, preferably in luxury, design, or homeware sectors.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management aptitude.
- Comprehensive understanding of global retail and e-commerce landscapes, customer experience, and brand positioning.
- High standards for quality and a passion for craftsmanship and design storytelling.
- Capability to work onsite in London managing multiple priorities swiftly and making data-driven decisions.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Business, Merchandising, Fashion, Design, or related disciplines; luxury or curated retail experience is preferred.
