Role Overview
The Senior Accountant will oversee daily accounting activity while also handling core accounting work directly. This position focuses on keeping financial records accurate, meeting UAE accounting, VAT, and labour compliance requirements, producing financial reports, and providing information that helps management make decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and check accounting functions across accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, payroll, inventory accounting, and bank reconciliations.
- Complete month-end and year-end closing activities on time, including correct journal entries.
- Draft and review profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports in line with IFRS.
- Handle VAT return preparation, maintain compliance with FTA requirements, and assist with external audits.
- Track cash positions, work with banks, and prepare treasury-related reports.
- Put in place internal controls, accounting policies, and improved working methods.
- Record journal entries, maintain ledger accounts, and perform reconciliations when required.
- Manage receivables, including invoicing, collection follow-up, and customer account reconciliation.
- Manage payables, including supplier invoice processing, vendor reconciliations, and payment execution.
- Keep payroll records updated and process WPS payments, gratuity, and leave encashment calculations.
- Maintain and reconcile inventory data for raw materials, work in progress, and finished goods within the ERP system.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and wider financial planning activities.
- Coordinate with auditors, tax advisors, and banks as part of routine financial operations.
Qualifications and Experience
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a similar discipline.
- 6 to 8 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong working knowledge of IFRS, UAE VAT, Corporate Tax, payroll, and ERP-based accounting systems.
- Good command of MS Excel and reporting tools.
- Strong analytical ability, issue-solving skills, and experience supervising accounting tasks.
