Job description

About the Role

Central Bedfordshire Council is a significant unitary authority focused on prioritizing customer service and enhancing efficiency. The council is dedicated to providing a 24/7 online platform for greater community access and continuously seeks innovative ways to improve communication with residents. Within this context, the Revenues and Benefits Service plays a vital role by managing Council Tax and Business Rates billing, debt collection, and benefits claim assessment to ensure favourable and sensitive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

As a Revenues Officer, you will manage the collection and enforcement of outstanding council tax debts. Your duties will include investigative tasks using various resources to devise payment plans and locate debtors who have often relocated without leaving a forwarding address. You will also prepare cases for enforcement actions by reviewing details thoroughly and maintain confidential records in the council's database.

Candidate Profile

Accuracy and attention to detail are critical, especially when preparing enforcement documentation. A disciplined working style, the ability to work independently within guidelines, and sound prioritization skills are essential due to the fast-paced work environment. Collaboration and sharing best practices with team members are encouraged to enhance collective performance.
