Research Analyst

Job Overview

The Research Analyst is responsible for gathering, analyzing, interpreting, and reporting data to bolster the College’s ongoing institutional effectiveness and research efforts. This role supports strategic planning, assessment, and reporting activities critical to the organization's objectives.

Primary Responsibilities

• Create and manage a comprehensive plan to identify, analyze, and communicate vital data supporting the College’s strategic and operational plans.
• Design and carry out quantitative, qualitative, and survey research projects, including design input and implementation.
• Handle extensive data sets by importing/exporting data, cleaning files, and preserving historical records.
• Prepare reports that summarize and analyze data clearly for diverse audiences, incorporating charts and tables for clarity.
• Ensure the confidentiality and security of sensitive student and employee information.
• Proofread all reports, correspondence, and statistical tables to guarantee accuracy and completeness.
• Maintain various data dissemination formats such as report dashboards and scorecards.
• Extract and analyze complex data from platforms like Colleague, state, federal databases, and other sources.
• Compile and validate data for the College's statistical handbook.
• Assist in developing system specifications and reporting frameworks to meet evolving state and federal reporting requirements (e.g., THECB and IPEDS).
• Create and update training materials to enhance understanding of Institutional Effectiveness and data use among faculty and staff.
• Conduct research on best practices in educational and institutional research and support accreditation processes.
• Help review and evaluate planning units, develop outcome measures, and monitor improvement plans.
• Maintain punctual attendance and adhere to work schedules, accommodating deadlines and special events which may require evening, holiday, or weekend hours.
• Perform additional duties as assigned while promoting positive morale, teamwork, and exceptional service within the College community.
• Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, including data presentation and problem-solving.
• Comply with all College policies and complete required professional development.

Physical Requirements

This role requires frequent standing, occasional walking, sitting, use of hands, reaching, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, talking, hearing, tasting, or smelling. The position involves frequently lifting/moving up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds.
