About the Company

Primary Responsibilities

  • Oversee construction cost management, including preparing tender Bills of Quantities (BQs), submitting quotes, budgeting projects, managing contractor project expenses with precise Bill of Quantities, liaising with client quantity surveyors, processing work progress applications, securing payment certificates, and ensuring timely closure of accurate final project accounts.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to guarantee projects complete within planned budgets, scope, and timelines.
  • Develop budgets and cost estimates for building projects during contracting stages, advising on how quality impacts the budget.
  • Provide guidance on the size and structure appropriate for given expenditure budgets.
  • Issue job quotes to support tendering processes.
  • Advise on costs associated with alternative materials and construction methods.
  • Facilitate tender procedures, contractual arrangements, and prepare tender documentation.
  • Ensure effective communication of company policies, Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) management systems, and safety protocols to contractors and clients through formal contracts or correspondence.
  • Negotiate with vendors and draft contracts.
  • Conduct site visits for assessments and projecting future work.
  • Monitor payments, scope changes, variations, claims, and finalize accounts accordingly.
  • Track and monitor work quantities and material quality.
  • Prepare, compile, and submit progress reports punctually.
  • Provide advice on legal matters related to projects.

Educational and Professional Requirements

  • Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction or Building Management, or related disciplines — preferably obtained from Technical University of Kenya (TUK).
  • At least 2 years of professional experience as a Quantity Surveyor in an active and demanding construction environment.
  • Membership in a recognized Quantity Surveyor professional body is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated record of performance in competitive construction settings.
