Position Summary

As a Quality Assurance Coordinator, you will play a vital role in managing daily execution of food safety, quality control, laboratory, and regulatory compliance in a Grade-A dairy setting. Your responsibilities will include supporting HACCP, FSMA Preventive Controls, PMO compliance, SQF/GFSI standards, internal audits, product sampling, and microbiological programs. Collaboration with production teams to enhance process controls, investigate deviations, and uphold documentation standards is key. Additionally, you will assist the QA team in coordinating activities and act as a backup for QA leadership when necessary.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and support site Food Safety & Quality Management Systems including HACCP, FSMA, GMPs, PMO, and SQF/GFSI compliance.
  • Conduct inspections, audits, record reviews, and confirm adherence to company, regulatory, and customer quality standards.
  • Collect and analyze quality data, manage product safety decisions, escalate issues, and document corrective/preventive actions.
  • Coordinate and perform laboratory tasks such as product sampling, microbiological testing, environmental monitoring, sample prep, and result analysis with prompt escalation of out-of-specification incidents.
  • Partner with operations, maintenance, sanitation, and QA leadership to resolve quality issues, identify root causes, and verify effectiveness of corrective actions.
  • Maintain comprehensive, organized, and audit-ready quality records.
  • Support various audits by gathering documentation, assisting inspections, and tracking corrective action closures.
  • Use quality metrics to identify and drive continuous improvement in product quality, process performance, sanitation, complaints, and compliance.
  • Train and coordinate QA technicians and plant personnel on quality procedures, GMPs, sampling, and documentation standards.
  • Provide backup support to Quality Assurance Manager ensuring uninterrupted QA operations during absences or critical periods.
  • Remain flexible to accommodate production schedules, investigations, regulatory obligations, and occasional weekend or off-shift duties.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Dairy Science, Microbiology, or related field.
  • Minimum 1 to 3 years experience in quality assurance, food safety, or lab roles in dairy, beverage, or pasteurization industries.
  • Familiarity with SQF, HACCP, FSMA Preventive Controls, and audit processes.
  • Hands-on experience with microbiological testing, sampling, data analysis, and quality record keeping.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and aptitude to learn quality and lab management software.
  • Strong analytical skills for interpreting quality data, deviations, and documentation trends.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for documenting results and interacting with plant teams and leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications such as HACCP, PCQI, SQF Practitioner, or equivalent food safety credentials.
  • Experience with digital quality management systems and tools.
