Role Overview

This is a full-time, on-site Project Manager position based in Kampala. The role covers the full project lifecycle, from planning and launch through execution and final completion, with responsibility for meeting scope, budget, and timeline targets. The position requires active coordination of day-to-day project work, preparation of work plans, schedule management, and oversight of resources.

Key Duties

The Project Manager will work closely with internal teams, community representatives, suppliers, and partner organizations to maintain clear communication and provide timely progress updates. The role also includes monitoring risks and issues, keeping project records and reports current, carrying out regular site inspections, and supporting logistics and expediting work so that materials and services continue moving as required. Continuous improvement of project processes and adherence to MFU’s standards for quality, safety, and community impact are also part of the role.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should have strong project management capability, especially in planning, scheduling, budgeting, and stakeholder coordination. Experience with expediting and expeditor functions is important for ensuring materials, services, and milestones are delivered on time. The role also requires inspection skills to check quality, specification compliance, and safety standards, along with logistics management ability for procurement, inventory control, transport, and on-site resource distribution.

Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills are essential, as is careful attention to detail. Candidates must be comfortable working on-site in Kampala, handling several priorities at once, and collaborating with varied teams and community stakeholders. A diploma or degree in Project Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Engineering, or a closely related field is preferred, and professional certifications will be an added advantage. Prior experience in NGO, foundation, or community development projects in Uganda or similar settings is beneficial.
