Role overview
WSP is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join its Taupō-based team and help deliver civil infrastructure work for local clients. The role suits someone who can prepare service offers, get to grips with project scope, and support wider project management activities across the Taupō office.
You will work with engineers and technical specialists across multiple disciplines to deliver quality outcomes, strengthen client partnerships, and contribute to successful project completion. This opportunity is particularly relevant for someone with background in three waters or transportation engineering who wants to develop further in a collaborative environment.

Key responsibilities
- Take ownership of project management duties and ensure outputs align with client expectations and requirements.
- Prepare project scopes, briefs, proposals, offers of service, and fee estimates.
- Track programmes, budgets, and financial performance to support successful delivery.
- Coordinate project teams so work is completed on schedule, within budget, and to the required standard.
- Maintain regular client contact and provide high-quality service throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage documentation, reporting, invoicing, and change control activities.
- Identify project risks and ensure work complies with WSP standards and internal processes.
- Support business development through bids, proposals, and spotting new opportunities.
- Work closely with multidisciplinary colleagues to keep project delivery moving effectively.
Candidate profile
- A relevant tertiary qualification in engineering or a similar discipline is required.
- Approximately 5 or more years of experience in project management or a related civil engineering role, ideally in transportation or 3 waters engineering.
- Demonstrated ability to guide projects from the planning stage through to completion.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build lasting client relationships.
- Excellent organisation and prioritisation skills with the ability to handle competing deadlines.
- A collaborative approach and the ability to work well across multidisciplinary teams.
- A professional, accountable, and integrity-led working style.
- A full, clean driver’s licence is required.
