Overview
Greenspace Construction Inc. is seeking a Project Director in Toronto, Ontario for a full-time role. The company delivers general contracting, construction management, and design-build services, with particular strength in heavy civil construction and water and wastewater infrastructure work across southern Ontario. Role summary
This position provides senior leadership for the company’s project delivery, project management, estimating, contract administration, and operational performance activities. Reporting to the Vice President, the Project Director will guide Project Managers and Project Coordinators while helping ensure successful delivery of the infrastructure portfolio.
The role is central to improving operational performance, managing contractual and commercial exposure, supporting growth initiatives, and presenting project performance information to executive leadership. Deep experience in heavy civil construction, a strong grasp of construction contracts and adjudication, and the ability to influence outcomes at both project and corporate levels are essential.
Key accountabilities
- Lead, coach, and evaluate Project Managers, Project Coordinators, and other project delivery personnel.
- Define and reinforce project management standards, workflows, and best practices throughout the business.
- Work with the President and COO to shape strategic objectives and operational initiatives.
- Build a culture centered on accountability, collaboration, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Contribute to succession planning, workforce development, and organizational expansion.
- Oversee delivery of infrastructure projects from pre-construction through final closeout.
- Track portfolio performance, including schedules, budgets, staffing, and risk exposure.
- Review project financial performance, forecasting, cash flow, and profitability at an executive level.
- Approve execution approaches, procurement plans, and other major project decisions.
- Maintain consistency and quality in reporting, documentation, and stakeholder communication.
- Direct the review and administration of construction contracts, subcontract agreements, and procurement documents.
- Advise on obligations, risk allocation, claims, change orders, and dispute resolution matters.
- Support adjudication, negotiation, and discussions with owners, consultants, subcontractors, and legal counsel.
- Ensure contract compliance and help reduce operational risk proactively.
- Oversee project controls and contract management systems.
- Guide estimating, tender preparation, bid reviews, and pre-construction planning.
- Examine major estimates, assumptions, qualifications, and risk assessments before submission.
- Ensure the estimating team has current design information and market insight.
- Support go/no-go decisions and bid strategy development for significant pursuits.
- Take part in client presentations, proposal reviews, and business development activities as needed.
- Prepare and deliver portfolio updates, financial forecasts, risk reviews, and operational reports to senior leaders.
- Monitor KPIs and implement corrective action where required.
- Identify opportunities to improve delivery efficiency, profitability, and client satisfaction.
- Contribute to annual budgeting, resource planning, and longer-term business planning.
- Recommend actions to executive leadership on performance, project risks, and growth opportunities.

Qualifications
Applicants should have a post-secondary degree or diploma in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Project Management, or a related field. Professional credentials such as PMP, Gold Seal, or P.Eng. are viewed favorably.
The preferred background includes at least 15 years in infrastructure construction or a related sector, including a minimum of 5 years in a senior leadership or director-level role. Experience should include leading teams of Project Managers, Project Coordinators, and other construction professionals, plus extensive work in contract administration, claims, dispute resolution, and adjudication.
Candidates must also bring experience managing multiple large projects at the same time, along with strong financial management, forecasting, and executive reporting capability.

- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management software.
- Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation and industry best practices.
- Valid G driver’s licence.
