About the role
This position sits in Google’s Ads Marketing organization and focuses on shaping the story for retail and commerce solutions in a B2B2C environment. The goal is to strengthen Google’s leadership in agentic commerce and AI-powered retail offerings by building a clear narrative that connects merchant needs, consumer behavior, and retail ad technology.
In this role, you will own the messaging strategy for Google’s retail and commerce story, from the annual framework through ongoing updates across the year. A major emphasis will be supporting the holiday shopping period, while keeping the broader story aligned with Ads and B2C Shopping messaging.
You will work across global marketing, product marketing, regional teams, and scaled channels to deliver high-impact content, executive-level storytelling, industry-event materials, and thought leadership assets.
Minimum qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- At least 6 years of experience in product marketing, brand strategy, corporate communications, or narrative development within technology, retail, or advertising.
- Background in creating B2B marketing stories, sales enablement content, or structured messaging frameworks.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience shaping messaging for large-scale digital campaigns and drafting keynote content for senior executives at major industry events.
- Experience collaborating with research or message-testing partners to assess narrative effectiveness and improve positioning using data.
- Comfort working in highly matrixed organizations and building alignment across many stakeholders.
- Ability to understand broad industry shifts, influence senior audiences through strong narrative structure, and move fluidly between strategic context and detailed audience needs.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage priorities in a fast-moving environment, especially around key seasonal deadlines such as the holiday quarter.
Responsibilities
- Build and lead the yearly B2B retail and commerce messaging plan, including core sales narrative decks, long-range strategic updates, and the underlying messaging architecture.
- Work with external testing partners to check messaging effectiveness and use findings to sharpen the positioning strategy.
- Create content directly, including enablement assets and campaign materials, while incorporating generative AI tools into the workflow where useful.
- Write keynote scripts and presentation content for Google-hosted events and prominent external stages, with a focus on strong executive messaging.
- Coordinate with the wider Ads Narrative team to extend the message across important thought leadership channels.
Compensation and benefits
The posted base pay range in the US is $141,000 to $206,000 annually. In addition, the role includes a 15% bonus target, equity, and benefits. Pay is decided based on job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
