About the Role
Join Fisher & Paykel Healthcare in Auckland as a Product Development Engineer. This role invites early-career engineers passionate about enhancing patient outcomes through innovation to collaborate with experienced professionals in the MedTech space. You'll contribute to inventive projects from concept through execution within a supportive, team-oriented setting, gaining valuable insights into medical device design, development standards, and regulatory environments.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with senior engineers and multidisciplinary teams including R&D, manufacturing, and quality assurance.
- Assist in the design and engineering of cutting-edge medical devices.
- Develop, test, and refine prototypes, driving iterative product enhancements.
- Support product validation, comprehensive documentation, and participate in design reviews.
- Engage in projects spanning early ideas to final product release.
- Learn and apply quality management and regulatory compliance within healthcare product development.
Requirements
- Up to three years of experience in relevant engineering fields.
- A degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Biomedical Engineering, or closely related disciplines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with eagerness to learn and collaborate.
- Effective communication skills to engage with team members and stakeholders.
- Proactive mindset focused on ownership and professional growth.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Understanding of product development lifecycles.
- Hands-on experience with prototype creation and fabrication.
- Familiarity with manufacturing techniques such as injection molding.
- Knowledge of product testing procedures and technical documentation.
- Basic experience in project coordination or timeline planning.
- Awareness of medical device standards and regulated industry practices is a plus.
