As a Pathology Specimen Collector based in Gatton, Queensland, you will collect blood and other specimen samples, ensuring a positive experience for patients who often encounter you first on their healthcare journey. You’ll be instrumental in the efficient handling of samples to aid prompt patient care.

Primary Responsibilities

• Collect blood and various specimens with precision, care, and attention to protocol.
• Create a welcoming, calm, and professional atmosphere for all patients.
• Prepare and package specimens following strict procedural guidelines for transport.
• Keep accurate records and adhere to all process requirements.
• Contribute to seamless daily operations at the collection facility.

Candidate Profile and Qualifications

This role is ideal for individuals who are compassionate, reliable, and motivated to learn. Candidates with backgrounds in aged care, disability support, nursing, or customer service roles where people support is key are encouraged to apply. Previous pathology collection experience or formal certification is beneficial but not mandatory.

• Prior experience in pathology collection is a plus but not required.
• Certificate III in Pathology Collection is advantageous but not essential.
• Experience in healthcare or customer-facing industries is highly valued.

Mandatory Requirements

• Possession of or willingness to obtain a valid Working With Children Check before starting.
• Proof of immunization compliance including Hepatitis B vaccination.

Training and Development

Successful candidates will participate in a six-week paid training program delivered via the Healius Academy, including full-time hours initially and then a part-time schedule, designed to equip them with essential skills for collections. This onboarding may be accelerated depending on prior experience.
