About Mindrift and the Role
Mindrift connects domain specialists with AI projects from leading tech innovators, striving to leverage Generative AI through expert collaboration worldwide. The company seeks a proficient Bot Developer for the Tendem project, a freelance, part-time remote position focused on constructing and enhancing conversational bots on platforms including WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord, Slack, and similar messaging services. The role involves integrating bots within a hybrid AI-human system to automate tasks such as customer support, appointment scheduling, order management, content delivery, moderation, and notifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop bots for major messaging services like WhatsApp Business/Cloud API, Telegram Bot API, Discord, and Slack.
- Design conversational dialogues, manage dialogue states, and implement fallback mechanisms to maintain smooth interactions.
- Integrate bots with large language models (LLMs) such as those from OpenAI or Anthropic to facilitate natural language responses when relevant.
- Connect bots to backend services, databases, customer relationship management systems, and various third-party APIs including booking and payment platforms.
- Manage platform-specific technicalities including webhooks, rate limits, interactive messaging formats including buttons, media, and templates.
- Review and improve AI-generated bot logic to ensure correctness, reliability, and comprehensive error handling.
- Establish logging, monitoring, and recovery systems to maintain bot health and operational integrity in live environments.
Candidate Requirements
- A minimum of three years’ experience in backend development, integration, automation, or bot development is essential.
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or related technical fields is advantageous.
- Demonstrable experience designing and maintaining production-grade bots with strong command over APIs, webhooks, and backend service integration.
- At least one year of practical experience developing bots on at least one major messaging platform such as WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord, or Slack.
- Proficiency in Python or Node.js for developing backend bot logic.
- Experience with RESTful APIs, webhook handling, OAuth protocols, and asynchronous request management.
- Competency in using relational or NoSQL databases for storing conversational states and user data.
- Familiarity with LLM APIs and conversational prompt design is strongly preferred.
- Understanding of the limitations, message formatting, and approval procedures on messaging platforms (e.g., WhatsApp templates).
- Experience with deployment and hosting technologies such as Docker, serverless architectures, VPS, or Platform-as-a-Service solutions.
- High attention to detail with a commitment to avoiding silent failures or broken conversational flows.
- Self-driven work style capable of independently designing and delivering complete bot solutions.
- Portfolio or demonstrable examples of past bots developed are required.
- Proficiency in English at upper-intermediate (B2) level or better is mandatory.
Project Details and Compensation
The engagement typically requires approximately 10 to 20 hours weekly during active project phases, though this estimate varies based on ongoing demands. Compensation may reach up to $60 per hour, dependent on experience level and output speed. Different projects within the platform may offer various pay scales aligned with required complexity and expertise.
