About Wing
Wing develops drone delivery as a safer, quicker, and more sustainable approach to last-mile logistics. As demand for instant delivery grows, traditional methods can be slow, expensive, and tied to road congestion and pollution. Wing designs, builds, and runs its own aircraft and provides drone delivery services across two continents. The platform is built to plug into existing delivery and logistics systems, making it adaptable for a wide range of businesses. Wing is part of Alphabet, Google’s parent company, and its goal is to become the world’s preferred delivery method.
Role overview
Wing is hiring a Mechatronics Engineer for its Aircraft Development team. This is an onsite role based in Palo Alto, CA. You will work alongside mechanical, mechatronics, and aeronautical engineers to help build the next generation of drone technology and contribute to the future of aviation. Your work will span complete aircraft systems, critical subassemblies, and the supporting infrastructure around them.
What you will do
- Create advanced hardware and software solutions for the package loading subsystem, helping the drone delivery platform scale worldwide.
- Partner with hardware and reliability teams to design and improve automated test setups that strengthen the dependability of package loading and delivery systems.
- Help shape, design, and prototype new robotic systems and subassemblies for future aircraft platforms and ground infrastructure.
- Study test results using SQL, Python, and related tools to spot patterns, troubleshoot problems, and support engineering decisions.
What you need
- A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or Aerospace Engineering.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience.
- Hands-on ability to design, prototype, and test mechanical parts or test fixtures using CAD and 3D printing.
- Experience diagnosing electromechanical systems such as BLDC motors, servos, and microcontrollers.
- Strong working knowledge of Python or Matlab for analysis, automation, and testing.
- Practical experience using C++ for embedded systems work.
- Ability to investigate technical issues independently, analyze data, and explain findings clearly to cross-functional teams.
Why this role stands out
- Make a direct impact on the future of aerospace robotics in a fast-growing industry and help improve how goods move around the world.
- Apply your creativity and engineering skills in a collaborative setting while solving complex challenges such as package winching and automated loading systems.
- Work at the intersection of software and hardware in a fast-moving robotic systems team.
- Join a dynamic startup environment backed by Alphabet.
