A fast-expanding company in the food production and distribution sector is looking for a proactive Logistics Manager to oversee transportation, logistics, and distribution for its multiple locations. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, this key role involves designing and implementing logistics strategies that align with business expansion, enhance service quality, reduce transportation expenses, and guarantee prompt delivery of perishable goods.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee transportation and distribution across various sites ensuring smooth operations.
• Formulate and roll out logistics plans that foster growth and meet customer service goals.
• Establish and maintain partnerships with carriers, brokers, third-party logistics firms, and distribution associates.
• Negotiate contracts, rates, and service agreements with transportation providers.
• Track transportation metrics and initiate corrective measures when necessary to uphold standards.
• Ensure efficient, timely delivery conforming to quality requirements for products.
• Collaborate with operations, production, sales, and customer service teams to synchronize logistics with overall business objectives.
• Manage outbound shipment schedules and distribution to meet client demands.
• Support logistics scalability for new market growth initiatives.
• Address and resolve transportation and delivery issues proactively.
• Conduct cost analyses related to transportation lanes and freight utilization.
• Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for logistics.
• Pursue cost optimization strategies without compromising service excellence.
• Develop budgets for logistics functions and assist in forecasting requirements.
• Lead ongoing efficiency and scalability improvements enhancing customer satisfaction.
• Assess transportation routes and carrier networks to optimize the distribution system.
• Recommend and implement improvements to heighten efficiency and supply chain resilience.
• Aid the organization’s entry into new markets and customer channels through logistics support.
• Devise contingency plans to mitigate transportation risks and disruptions.
• Maintain adherence to all regulatory, safety, and transportation compliance standards.
• Ensure proper documentation and maintain records of carrier compliance.
• Support quality assurance programs related to product handling and traceability.
• Advocate best practices that safeguard product quality during distribution.
• Act as the primary logistics expert within the company.
• Collaborate cross-functionally and lead logistics team members fostering accountability and continuous improvement culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Operations Management, or related discipline.
• At least five years of progressively responsible experience in logistics and transportation management.
• Proficiency in managing relationships with carriers, brokers, and third-party logistics providers.
• Proven record in negotiating transportation contracts and controlling freight expenses.
• Strong analytical, financial, and problem-solving competencies.
• Experience with transportation management systems, ERP platforms, and Microsoft Office suite.
• Excellent communication skills and organizational abilities.
• Capable of working largely independently and efficiently in a remote work setup.
• Preferred experience includes fresh food, agriculture, food manufacturing, consumer packaged goods, or refrigerated distribution sectors.
• Knowledge of cold-chain logistics and handling perishable products is advantageous.
• Experience supporting multi-site logistics operations.
• Certification such as APICS CSCP, CLTD, or similar supply chain credentials is a plus.
• Prior involvement in high-growth corporate environments favored.
