Laboratory Assistant (Float)

Overview

Join Dynacare, a leader in health and wellness solutions, as a Laboratory Assistant (Float). This permanent part-time position, based in Vaughan, Ontario, offers approximately 15 guaranteed hours per week with day shifts between 6:30 am and 5:30 pm, Monday through Sunday. You will support multiple locations including North York, Toronto, Etobicoke, and Woodbridge.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform processing of blood and other laboratory specimens with accuracy and efficiency.
• Input requisition forms and test results meticulously in accordance with Ministry of Health requirements.
• Provide excellent customer service by demonstrating empathy, care, and kindness to patients during potentially stressful interactions.
• Collect specimens using precise venipuncture and other relevant procedures, following Dynacare's values and mission.
• Conduct other specimen-related tasks such as sorting samples, performing ECGs, Holter monitor setups, paternity tests, urine analyses, drug screening, and breath alcohol testing.
• Ensure proper preparation and documentation of samples ready for data entry and transportation under defined protocols.
• Maintain confidentiality and secure handling of all patient information and samples.
• Contribute to departmental and organizational quality standards and compliance with regulatory guidelines.

Qualifications and Skills

• Completion of secondary school education plus completion of a Laboratory Assistant training or Medical Lab Assistance course with focused phlebotomy training.
• Strong customer service orientation with genuine concern for patient health and wellbeing.
• Proficient phlebotomy skills combined with the ability to calmly and reassuringly manage anxious patients.
• Excellent organizational skills to prioritize workload and manage tasks independently under deadlines.
• High level of attention to detail.

Compensation and Benefits

The pay range for this role is $21.00 to $24.75 per hour. Final remuneration will be based on factors including experience and educational qualifications.
