Job Overview

We are seeking a Lab Services Technician for a 12-month contract position at a pharmaceutical company based in Cork, County Cork, Ireland. This role primarily involves supporting laboratory operations through preparation and maintenance duties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare laboratory buffers, media, and cleaning solutions, ensuring accuracy by verifying pH, conductivity, osmolality, and other necessary parameters.
  • Accurately record all preparation steps and their results for documentation purposes.
  • Assist with laboratory requests originating from Manufacturing and Quality Control departments.
  • Handle bio-hazardous waste by performing appropriate inactivation procedures.
  • Carry out daily calibration of pH and conductivity probes as well as monitor freezer temperatures regularly.
  • Conduct weekly calibrations of balances and clean fume hoods to maintain equipment standards.
  • Perform monthly cleaning of Biological Safety Cabinets (BSCs), water baths, and pH probes to ensure optimal functioning.
  • Manage ordering of raw materials and consumable supplies to maintain laboratory stock levels.
  • Serve as the main laboratory liaison for warehouse, shipping, and off-site storage operations.
  • Collect water and condensate samples following protocols for lab RIW, LPUW, and clean steam quality assurance.
  • Maintain and monitor the tracking system for fridge and freezer samples, including performing annual freezer defrosting.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Possession of an NCEA certificate in a related scientific or administrative field is preferred.
  • At least 1 to 2 years of laboratory housekeeping experience, ideally within a GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) compliant environment.
