Kitchen Porter

Role overview

SSP UK & Ireland is hiring a Kitchen Porter for Manchester Airport on a fixed-term basis through the end of October 2026. This role sits in a busy hospitality environment serving well-known brands such as M&S, Starbucks, Burger King and BrewDog across airports, train stations and motorway service locations in the UK and Ireland.

The position is based onsite and runs across operational hours from 3:00 AM to 11:00 PM. Work is scheduled flexibly and includes weekdays, weekends, bank holidays and public holidays.

Pay starts at £12.85 per hour. For hours worked between midnight and 6:00 AM, an additional £1.20 per hour is paid, taking the rate to £14.05 per hour for those hours. There is also the opportunity to receive tips and service charge.

What the role involves

• Helping chefs with simple food preparation and waste handling.
• Keeping the kitchen clean and tidy, including washing dishes and cleaning work surfaces and floors.
• Supporting food hygiene and kitchen safety practices.

What SSP is looking for

• Someone who enjoys staying busy and takes pride in doing the job well.
• A positive person who can work well in a lively, fast-moving team environment.
• Previous kitchen experience is useful, but it is not essential because full training will be provided.
• Applicants must be 18 years or older for some duties and shifts.
• Five years of references and a criminal record check are required.
