Role overview
This opportunity is offered on behalf of a partner organization that handles all applications and the remaining hiring steps. The employer is seeking an IT Risk Manager located in Canada.
The position combines enterprise IT governance, cybersecurity oversight, and executive risk reporting in a complex, regulated setting. You will own the end-to-end IT risk process, making sure risks are identified, evaluated, monitored, and addressed across the business. A major part of the role is turning risk data into clear, actionable leadership reporting through advanced Power BI dashboards and analytics. You will work closely with cybersecurity, audit, compliance, and IT stakeholders to reinforce governance practices and align them with enterprise risk expectations. This is a high-visibility role where your work supports strategic decisions and helps strengthen organizational resilience.
Accountabilities
- Own the enterprise IT risk register and manage risks from initial identification through remediation.
- Detect, evaluate, monitor, and communicate technology and operational risks across the organization.
- Coordinate IT governance efforts and keep cybersecurity, audit, compliance, and business stakeholders aligned.
- Follow up on mitigation actions and drive timely closure of identified risk issues.
- Create and update executive dashboards and reports in Power BI.
- Design and refine Power BI models, visuals, and DAX measures for risk reporting.
- Prepare structured materials for governance committees and leadership presentations.
- Maintain GRC records and ensure correct usage of risk management systems.
- Work with stakeholders to improve IT governance, compliance, and enterprise risk frameworks.
- Support ongoing improvements to risk processes, controls, and reporting standards.
Requirements
The right candidate brings strong IT risk, governance, and compliance experience in enterprise environments, along with advanced reporting and analytical capability.
- At least 5 years of experience in IT risk management, IT governance, or GRC in large enterprise environments.
- At least 3 years of practical Power BI experience, including dashboard building, data modelling, and DAX.
- Background coordinating cross-functional teams and leading risk mitigation efforts.
- Strong track record of preparing executive reports, presentations, and committee-level materials.
- Solid knowledge of IT risk frameworks, risk registers, KRIs, and governance structures.
- Exposure to cybersecurity, cloud environments, data management, and IT operations.
- Experience with GRC platforms such as ServiceNow IRM, SharePoint, AgilePlace, or Planview is considered an advantage.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and stakeholder management abilities.
- Comfort working in regulated and complex enterprise environments.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical risk into business language.
