Role summary
This contract position is for an IT Infrastructure Technician based in Dublin, Ireland, working on site at a major international data center environment. The assignment is on-demand and contract-based, with an initial term of 2 weeks and a potential extension.
The role sits within the Physical Planning function and is centered on hands-on infrastructure work. You will support the setup, adjustment, upkeep, and removal of physical IT equipment and related spaces. This opportunity is best suited to someone with practical experience in data center operations or other on-site IT infrastructure settings.
Key responsibilities
- Install physical IT assets such as racks, cabling, servers, and network equipment.
- Remove and decommission infrastructure that is no longer required.
- Carry out expansion work for existing installations, including capacity additions and extra components.
- Complete physical changes in IT rooms and associated infrastructure areas.
- Respond to assigned on-site tasks in line with operational requests.
- Assist in resolving incidents tied to physical infrastructure.
- Perform scheduled maintenance activities as required.
- Submit clear and accurate reports covering work completed.
- Provide the information needed to update inventory records and supporting documentation.
- Follow internal procedures, standards, and operating practices in all work.
Experience and technical requirements
Applicants should bring proven experience from IT infrastructure or data center environments. Practical, hands-on capability is expected in rack and stack work, structured cabling, and installation of hardware such as servers and network devices.
A solid understanding of the lifecycle of physical infrastructure is important, along with the ability to work from defined procedures and technical instructions. Candidates should also be familiar with health and safety expectations in IT environments and demonstrate strong attention to detail and communication skills.
Important notes
This position is limited strictly to physical infrastructure work. It does not include system administration or software configuration responsibilities.
Work is delivered on an on-demand basis, although tasks are usually arranged in advance. You will work alongside an internal IT team, but you will not have direct access to internal systems.
