About the role

The Human Resources Operations Specialist is responsible for supporting HR through day-to-day transactional and operational work. Reporting to the Sr. Director of HR Operations, this remote role calls for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing several HR processes at once. The position acts as a central contact for HR questions, handles employee lifecycle activity such as onboarding, offboarding, internal moves, and relocation, and helps ensure compliance with applicable laws and company policies. The role works closely with Payroll, Benefits, Talent Acquisition, IT, and outside vendors, and requires professionalism, sound judgment, and care when working with confidential information.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the first response point for HR questions received through Workday cases, email, and phone, delivering responsive and helpful service.
  • Support employee lifecycle activities, including onboarding, orientation, internal transfers, relocation, and exit processing.
  • Create, track, and complete HRIS transactions while maintaining accurate and timely employee data.
  • Guide employees, managers, and HR partners on policies, programs, and HR systems.
  • Help maintain compliance with labor laws, regulations, internal policies, and standards for data privacy and security.
  • Contribute ideas and feedback for improving HR processes and resolving operational issues.
  • Partner with Payroll, Benefits, Talent Acquisition, IT, and external agencies as needed.
  • Build and maintain Workday reports to support analysis and decision-making.
  • Assist with HR system testing, documentation, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Prepare severance paperwork and support associated payment processing.
  • Handle unemployment claims and assemble the required documentation.
  • Prepare and submit reports for government agencies and internal audit teams when required.
  • Work with IT to resolve technical issues by opening and following up on service tickets.
  • Code and process invoices connected to HR operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required; a bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related area is preferred.
  • At least 2 years of full-time experience in HR or a related position.
  • Hands-on experience with HRIS platforms, preferably Workday.
  • Intermediate Excel ability, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP.
  • Working knowledge of HR laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion and integrity.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Comfort working independently and as part of a team.
