Job description
Role Overview
An established International School situated in Abelemkpe, Accra, is currently seeking a seasoned and strategic Human Resources Manager. This pivotal role involves overseeing the entire human resource function of the school to ensure the attraction, development, and retention of high-quality teaching and non-teaching staff in a professional and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Formulate and execute HR strategies that align with the school's vision and educational goals.
- Offer expert HR guidance to the Head of School, management teams, and department leaders.
- Create, update, and enforce HR policies, handbooks, and administrative guidelines ensuring compliance and clarity.
- Keep confidential records and maintain thorough HR documentation.
- Generate regular HR reports and workforce analytics to aid management decisions.
- Assist in workforce planning and organizational development efforts.
- Oversee end-to-end recruitment activities across teaching and support personnel roles.
- Collaborate with leadership to identify staffing needs and prepare detailed job descriptions and interview materials.
- Manage selection processes including interviews, reference checks, background verifications, and pre-employment screenings to uphold safeguarding policies.
- Develop and lead onboarding and orientation programs for new hires.
- Act as the primary contact for employee relations matters including grievances, disciplinary procedures, and workplace conflict resolution.
- Champion a positive workplace culture that promotes employee engagement and wellbeing.
- Advise on HR policies, employment law compliance, and manage disciplinary investigations with fairness and confidentiality.
- Administer compensation and benefits programs and support salary reviews and benchmarking processes.
- Collaborate with payroll to ensure accuracy of employee data, including processing changes related to employment status and benefits.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Psychology, Management, or related field is required.
- A Master's degree focusing on Human Resource Management or a related area is advantageous.
- Professional certification or active membership in a recognized HR body is preferred.
- A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in HR, including leadership or supervisory roles.
- Demonstrated experience managing HR functions within a school or educational institution is mandatory.
- Experience in international school settings will be considered a significant advantage.
- Strong knowledge of Ghanaian labor laws and current HR best practices.
- Proven background managing both teaching staff and non-teaching employees.
