About Colla Health
Colla Health is a technology-driven healthcare service provider that integrates behavioral health support within oncology care settings. Collaborating with top cancer centers, it delivers accessible and high-quality mental health services designed to enhance patient outcomes and assist clinical teams.
Role Summary
This full-time, salaried position entails serving as the primary owner of HR and people operations at Colla Health. You will work closely with the CEO and COO to establish and maintain solid operational frameworks spanning HR, compliance, and people systems independently, without the support of a larger HR team.
The ideal candidate thrives on creating structure, managing essential administrative procedures, and ensuring projects are carried through successfully in a fast-paced startup setting. Beyond core HR responsibilities, there will be expectations to contribute to related operational, compliance, or administrative duties as business needs arise, with HR functions remaining the central focus.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage HR administrative functions such as state registrations, filings, and compliance with employment regulations.
- Support payroll coordination, and oversee employee onboarding, offboarding, and benefits management.
- Guarantee adherence to federal, state, and local employment laws and standards.
- Maintain detailed and accurate employee records and documentation.
- Administer and optimize HR systems (e.g., HRIS, payroll, benefits platforms) ensuring operational efficiency.
- Identify and implement enhancements to streamline people operations and workflows.
- Lead and contribute to cross-departmental HR projects such as policy revisions, system rollouts, and process improvements.
- Monitor project milestones and timelines, ensuring strategic priorities are met.
- Collaborate with leadership to translate new initiatives into operational realities as the company grows.
- Assist in cross-functional business operations, compliance, and administrative initiatives outside traditional HR responsibilities, including business registrations, coordination with tax/legal/accounting advisors, and handling vendor and contract administration.
- Partner with executive leadership on ad hoc operational tasks, prioritizing HR duties while supporting broader company needs.
Required Qualifications
- Between 5 and 8+ years’ experience in HR, People Operations, or as an HR Generalist, particularly with experience managing HR independently.
- Comprehensive knowledge of HR administration, compliance, and employment procedures.
- Proficiency with HR management software such as Gusto, Rippling, Justworks, or equivalents.
- Strong skills in project management and organization.
- Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to juggle multiple priorities effectively.
- Comfort working within a dynamic and rapidly evolving startup atmosphere.
- Flexibility to handle non-traditional HR operational, compliance, or administrative tasks as necessary without detracting from core HR responsibilities.
Desired Attributes
- An independent self-starter capable of driving initiatives to completion.
- Skill in bringing clarity and order to ambiguous or unstructured situations.
- Excellent communication abilities, especially in collaboration with senior leadership.
- A pragmatic approach focused on delivering solutions.
- Willingness to extend beyond fundamental HR duties into broader business operations when required, while maintaining HR as the priority.
