Overview
Coopero Ltd., a company specializing in Mechanical and Electrical Services based in Cork Metropolitan Area, is seeking a Health and Safety Manager. This role entails the responsibility of developing, implementing, and maintaining the organization's health, safety, and environmental management systems. The manager ensures compliance with relevant legislation, industry regulations, and client requirements while fostering a culture prioritizing safety across multiple projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, apply, and continuously enhance the Health & Safety Management System.
- Ensure adherence to all applicable health and safety laws, regulations, and standards.
- Track and assess company health and safety performance versus objectives and KPIs.
- Maintain and update health and safety policies, relevant procedures, and documentation.
- Advocate for a positive and proactive safety culture throughout the company.
- Represent the organization during audits and inspections.
- Evaluate and authorize risk assessments and method statements prepared by project teams.
- Assist in preparing safe work systems and verify that adequate control measures are in place prior to commencement.
- Perform frequent site inspections and audits across various construction sites.
- Identify workplace hazards and enforce appropriate corrective and preventative measures.
- Monitor compliance with safety permits, controls, and safe work system protocols.
- Prepare thorough inspection reports and ensure corrective actions follow-up.
- Investigate workplace accidents, near misses, incidents, and dangerous occurrences; prepare reports and recommend improvements.
- Submit mandatory statutory incident reports as required by regulation.
- Organize and coordinate health and safety induction programs for staff.
- Conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings to promote awareness.
- Maintain accurate training records and competency matrices for employees.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree, diploma, or equivalent certification in Occupational Health & Safety or a related field.
- Professional experience in mechanical services, building services, M&E contracting, construction, or engineering sectors.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities with capacity to engage employees across organizational levels.
- Comprehensive knowledge of construction-related health and safety legislation.
- Proven experience performing incident investigations, audits, and site inspections.
