About the Role

This opportunity is offered through a partner company seeking a Head of Operations to be based in Norway. This senior leadership role entails guiding and expanding the operational foundation of a global, fully remote financial services firm. The incumbent will manage essential operational functions to ensure efficiency, operational resilience, compliance, and outstanding service.

Leading cross-disciplinary teams in areas including payments, reconciliations, business operations, and digital asset settlement, the role demands strategic leadership integrating operational excellence, automation, risk management, and people management to build scalable, high-performance processes that drive long-term growth within a fast-moving, tech-centric financial environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategize and implement a thorough operational plan aligned with organizational goals, emphasizing scalability, efficiency, quality, and compliance.
• Manage and supervise core operational domains such as payments, treasury operations, reconciliations, card and back-office operations, and broader business functions.
• Take ownership of operational outcomes by defining relevant performance metrics, implementing controls, and initiating improvement schemes to uphold service excellence.
• Lead process enhancements, automation, and transformative initiatives leveraging structured approaches, technology advancements, data, and AI-driven tools.
• Develop and enforce standardized operating procedures to enhance consistency, efficiency, and operational transparency.
• Recruit, mentor, and cultivate a high-caliber operations team promoting accountability, collaboration, and continuous development.
• Collaborate closely with compliance, risk management, and financial crime teams to maintain adherence to regulatory obligations and internal policies.
• Establish frameworks for operational risk management including ongoing monitoring, reporting, control mechanisms, and audit readiness.
• Work alongside cross-functional leadership in technology, data, human resources, and client services to ensure unified business operations.
• Oversee comprehensive digital asset settlement processes covering reconciliation, wallet oversight, custody management, and cryptocurrency-to-fiat operational workflows.

Candidate Requirements

• Minimum of 10 years progressively responsible experience in operational leadership within banking, fintech, financial services, or wealth management sectors.
• Proven track record managing and expanding diverse operational functions such as payments, treasury, settlements, and general business operations.
• Deep proficiency in process optimization, operational transformations, automation methods, and executing scalable workflows.
• Strong knowledge of financial regulations, compliance standards, anti-money laundering (AML) frameworks, and financial crime mitigation practices.
• Experience directing multidisciplinary teams and fostering high-performance operational cultures.
• Outstanding leadership, communication, stakeholder engagement, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to think strategically and convert business priorities into practical, executable operational strategies.
• Experience with cryptocurrency, blockchain, or digital asset related operations is highly advantageous.
• Capability to perform effectively in a completely remote, global setup with strong autonomy and collaboration skills.
• Must have access to a dedicated work area and reliable high-speed internet connection.
