Head of Human Resources

About the Role

The Christopher Group is collaborating with a nationally respected, mission-focused nonprofit organization to appoint a Head of Human Resources who will steer the next stage of growth and transformation within the organization. This senior leadership position acts as a trusted mentor to the CEO and the Executive Leadership Team, guiding the overall people strategy, boosting organizational capacity, and updating HR functions during a critical period of change.

This position is ideal for an experienced HR executive who thrives on building organizational capabilities, influencing leadership decisions, and managing change while supporting an impactful national nonprofit.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as a strategic consultant to executive leadership on areas such as organizational design, culture, leadership development, succession planning, and workforce strategy.
• Oversee the overarching HR strategy including Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, Organizational Development, Total Rewards, HR Operations, Learning & Development, HRIS, and Employee Relations.
• Lead initiatives related to workforce and succession planning, leadership growth, and enhancing organizational effectiveness.
• Review and update HR policies, programs, and processes to promote efficiency, consistency, and a superior employee experience.
• Manage compensation and benefits strategies to ensure they remain competitive and compliant with regulations.
• Collaborate with executive leadership and the Board on matters such as executive compensation, governance, and people-centric initiatives.
• Promote leadership development, performance management, employee engagement, and talent growth programs across the organization.
• Administer employee relations, compliance monitoring, investigations, and fair employment practices to support a constructive and accountable workplace.
• Develop strong partnerships throughout the company by leading with influence and collaboration.

Preferred Qualifications and Background

• At least 15 years of progressive experience in HR leadership roles, including development and execution of enterprise-wide HR strategy.
• Proven leadership managing multiple HR Centers of Excellence such as Talent Management, Organizational Development, Total Rewards, HR Operations, and Talent Acquisition.
• Strong experience collaborating with executive and Board-level leadership.
• Successful track record in organizational transformation, culture building, and leadership development.
• Expertise in overseeing compensation, benefits, performance assessment, succession planning, and organizational structuring.
• Executive presence with ability to influence stakeholders at all organizational levels.
• Bachelor's degree required; an advanced degree is preferred.
• Experience in sectors like healthcare, nonprofit, higher education, or other mission-driven organizations is advantageous but not mandatory.
