About the Role
We are seeking an accomplished and innovative Head Chef with extensive expertise in Japanese cuisine to join a prestigious luxury lifestyle hotel located in Doha, Qatar. This senior culinary leadership position demands an authentic understanding and mastery of Japanese cooking methods coupled with the creativity and leadership skills necessary to elevate the hotel's Japanese dining experience to a top-tier level.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the Japanese kitchen's culinary operations, guaranteeing exceptional food quality, authenticity, consistency, and visual presentation.
- Create and refine menus that respect traditional Japanese culinary arts while integrating contemporary sophistication.
- Hire, mentor, and motivate the kitchen staff to deliver outstanding operational and service standards.
- Manage expenses related to food cost, inventory oversight, and waste reduction to optimize profitability.
- Ensure strict adherence to hygiene, food safety protocols, and proper kitchen organization.
- Work closely with Food & Beverage leadership to ensure culinary offerings meet brand specifications and guest expectations.
- Supervise flawless kitchen workflow during regular service hours, special events, and functions.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience as a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef specializing primarily in Japanese cuisine.
- In-depth expertise in Japanese culinary techniques such as sushi, sashimi, robata, ramen, teppanyaki, and kaiseki.
- Proficiency in Japanese language is highly desirable and will significantly enhance candidacy.
- Experience within luxury hotel environments or upscale Japanese restaurants is strongly preferred.
- A passionate commitment to Japanese culinary heritage combined with innovative culinary vision.
- Exceptional leadership abilities and skills in team development.
- Comprehensive understanding of food costing, menu planning, and kitchen management.
- Capability to perform effectively under pressure in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment.
