Job Overview

The General Superintendent will oversee the on-site execution of some of the nation's most technically demanding marine and heavy civil construction assignments. Collaborating closely with Project Managers and leadership, this role entails directing field operations, cultivating high-performance teams, and steering projects from inception through completion. Beyond managing daily activities, the Superintendent shapes project plans, mentors upcoming field leaders, nurtures strong client relationships, and upholds top standards for safety, quality, and operational excellence.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil or construction engineering, or related disciplines, or equivalent experience in heavy civil construction.
• Over 8 years of advancing responsibility in managing field operations for heavy civil, marine, structural, industrial, or transportation construction projects.
• Strong leadership capabilities with proven success in team management, complex problem-solving, and driving project completion.
• Experience working alongside project engineers, owners, engineering consultants, government agencies such as DOTs and USACE, ports, utilities, and industrial clients.
• Ability to juggle multiple priorities, navigate complex site challenges, and make effective decisions under pressure.

Technical Skills

• Proven leadership and decision-making acumen to resolve field issues and lead teams toward project goals.
• Expertise in heavy civil construction methods, sequencing, production planning, and self-perform operations.
• Competence in interpreting construction documents including drawings, contracts, and specifications.
• Proficiency in construction management software as well as Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong organizational skills enabling effective prioritization of various projects and resource demands.
• Exceptional communication skills for building and maintaining stakeholder relationships.
• Analytical problem-solving to assess risks and implement sound operational decisions.
• Mentorship abilities to develop high-performing teams and promote a culture emphasizing safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Unrestricted access to all construction site locations in varying environmental and weather conditions.
• Outdoors work over extended periods in diverse climates.
• Mandatory use of personal protective equipment including respirators and fall protection gear.
• Travel across land, water, and by aircraft as required.
• Physical activities such as lifting, climbing, pulling, pushing, squatting, and working at heights.
• Ability to handle weight up to 20 pounds and undertake prolonged periods at a desk or on site.
